YMD Boon Volunteers Transform Outdoor Spaces at Two Leicestershire Schools

Staff from YMD Boon have generously volunteered their time, skills and resources to support two Leicestershire schools, helping to transform their outdoor spaces and give them a fresh new look.

The team worked alongside colleagues at Swannington Church of England Primary School in Swannington and Viscount Beaumont’s Church of England Primary School in Coleorton, both part of Rise Multi Academy Trust, to take on an impressive painting project across the schools’ outdoor fencing.

Supporting schools and their communities

YMD Boon is a multidisciplinary consultancy with more than 60 years’ experience across architecture, building surveying and health and safety, with extensive experience working with primary and secondary schools, academies and multi-academy trusts.

The company supports education settings with a range of professional services, helping schools and trusts with their buildings, estates and development needs. Alongside its professional work, YMD Boon is committed to making a positive contribution to the communities in which it operates, including through employee volunteering.

YMD Boon has supported Rise Multi Academy Trust through its professional expertise, helping the Trust and its schools with their estates and development needs. This latest initiative provided an opportunity for the YMD Boon team to take that support one step further by getting hands-on and volunteering their time directly within the schools.

A fresh new look for the schools’ outdoor spaces

It was no mean feat! With plenty of fencing to cover, the YMD Boon team put in a huge amount of time and effort to carefully paint every nook and cranny. Their hard work has given the schools’ outdoor spaces a fresh, vibrant and welcoming feel for pupils, staff and the wider school community.

Despite the hot weather, everyone continued to work hard and gave their time to ensure the project was completed to the best of their ability. The team were fuelled by plenty of refreshments, regular breaks and, of course, some well-earned ice lollies!

Their commitment and enthusiasm, even in the warm conditions, was hugely appreciated by both schools and the Rise Multi Academy Trust team.

Mr McLugash, Executive Headteacher across Swannington Church of England Primary School and Viscount Beaumont’s Church of England Primary School, said:

“We are incredibly grateful to the team at YMD Boon for giving up their time to support our schools. The amount of work that went into painting the fencing was huge, and the difference it has made is fantastic.

“Our schools are at the heart of their local communities, so it is wonderful to see a local organisation not only supporting us through their professional expertise but also getting involved directly and helping to improve the environments our children learn and play in.

“The fencing has been given a fantastic new lease of life, and we are incredibly thankful for the hard work, enthusiasm and generosity of everyone involved. It is partnerships like this that show what can be achieved when schools and local organisations come together.”

The project has also provided valuable practical support for the schools’ Premises team, helping to prepare the outdoor areas ahead of the winter months and reducing some of the maintenance work that would otherwise have needed to be completed by the school team.

Steve Noble, Premises Officer at Rise Multi Academy Trust, said:

“The support from the YMD Boon team has made a real impact at both sites and has made a huge difference to our schools. Having their team volunteer their time meant we could get these areas ready ahead of the winter months, while also providing some valuable support to me.

“We are incredibly grateful for all the time, hard work and effort the team put in. A huge thank you to everyone at YMD Boon — we really appreciate your support and the difference you have made.”

The partnership between YMD Boon and Rise Multi Academy Trust is a wonderful example of community spirit in action.

Volunteering time, sharing professional skills and providing practical support can make a real and lasting difference to local schools. Projects such as this not only help improve school environments but also strengthen relationships between schools, businesses and the communities they serve.

A huge thank you to the YMD Boon team for all their hard work and for helping make a lasting difference to the outdoor spaces at both schools.
