British Values

At Swannington CofE Primary School, a proud Church of England primary school, our aim is for every member of our school community to feel valued, respected, and included. We promote a fully inclusive philosophy and foster a strong sense of belonging for all pupils, staff, and families.

Together, our staff, parents, and governors ensure that our School Values guide everything we do:

  • Creating a positive learning environment where everyone can flourish

  • Encouraging a sense of belonging and nurturing positive relationships

  • Promoting enjoyment of learning and a love of discovery

  • Developing caring, respectful young people who value themselves and others

  • Fostering a culture of success for all, where forgiveness and kindness are central

As a Church of England School, we take our legal duty to uphold British Values very seriously. Through a broad and balanced curriculum, we ensure that every child understands and appreciates:

  • Democracy and participation in school and community life

  • The rule of law and the importance of rights and responsibilities

  • Individual liberty and freedom of choice within a safe environment

  • Mutual respect and tolerance for those of different faiths, beliefs, or no faith

British Values are embedded throughout our school policies and teaching. Staff are fully aware of their responsibilities to uphold and promote these principles, which are reinforced across our Safeguarding Policy, Anti-Bullying Policy, Behaviour Policy, and Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural (SMSC) overview.

At Swannington CofE Primary School, we aim to create a nurturing, faith-inspired environment where children not only achieve academically but also develop strong character, empathy, and a lifelong love of learning.
